This position will perform general housekeeping duties and duties as a custodian. Position is temporary to cover for employees on leave and for summer cleaning projects.  Position schedule dependent upon needs of the General Service and Residence life departments. May be required to work different shifts or in different buildings/locations to accommodate needs of work unit. Candidates possessing a valid driver's license may be required to drive a College vehicle on or about campus in performing the functions of the position. 

 

Available Shifts: Candidates may work up to 18 hours per week during the academic calendar and up to 37.5 hours per week during summer months. Please note, while these are the available hours, candidates may not be scheduled to work the full duration each day. 

• 1st Shift: 10 openings
  • Monday through Thursday: 7:00 AM - 2:30 PM
  • Friday: 7:00 AM - 11:30 AM
• 2nd Shift: 5 openings
• • Monday through Thursday: 2:30 PM - 10:00 PM
  • Friday: 11:00 AM - 3:00 PM

Penn College students this position is eligible for summer on-campus housing, which will be considered a taxable benefit. Students who choose to live on campus must adhere to all Residence Life policies and guidelines.

EDUCATION

• High School Diploma or GED or equivalent. Preferred

LICENSES AND CERTIFICATIONS

• Valid In State Driver's License. Preferred

EXPERIENCE

• Experience as a custodian. Preferred
• Familiarity with automated cleaning equipment. Preferred

ABILITIES AND SKILLS

• Ability to read, write, and interpret instructions. Required

 

• Dispose of trash.
• Sweep, dust mop, and wet mop areas.
• Vacuum and shampoo carpeted areas.
• Clean fountains, ashtrays, and blackboards.
• Dust and/or wash areas requiring same.
• Clean restrooms and replenish supplies.
• Wash windows and door glass.
• Strip and refinish floors and maintain all types of floor surfaces.
• Sweep stairs and stairwells and wash same.
• Remove ice and snow from stairs, entrances, and walks.
• Wash walls, window ledges, woodwork, furnishings; remove graffiti.
• Replace light bulbs and tubes; clean light fixtures.
• Submit supply and repair requisitions to Supervisor.
• Keep housekeeping equipment clean and perform minor repairs on same.
• When leaving buildings, responsible for seeing that buildings are properly secured.

ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES

• Set up areas for special events as requested.
• Function as an attendant at special College events.

• Exposure to dust and harsh chemicals in performing duties.
• Lifting of 65 lbs. maximum without assistance with frequent lifting and carrying of objects up to 50 lbs.
• May require climbing and working off of ladders and scaffolding.
• May require travel between buildings during shift.

$15.98 per hour.
