Overview

This roll will assist in the meal preparation, delivery and laundry services on a daily basis. Upon reading menus this person will be able to create nutritious snacks and interact with co-workers and children. They will also assist staff with maintaining a safe, healthful, and pleasant learning and caring environment for children and families. This is a 12-month position. 

 

Schedule: 8:30 a.m. – 1:30 p.m., Monday through Friday. 

Qualifications

EDUCATION

  • High School Diploma or GED or equivalency. Required

EXPERIENCE

  • Experience working with young children ages birth to 5 in a group setting. Preferred

ABILITIES AND SKILLS

  • Effective communication skills. Required
  • Ability to read and follow instructions regarding menus, food storage and cleaning instructions, and children's dietary restrictions. Required
  • Demonstrated sensitivity to diversity and multicultural issues. Required
  • Interpersonal skills necessary to deal effectively and courteously with children, staff, families, and the public. Required
  • Sensitivity to the expectations of children, staff, and parents. Required

 

Responsibilities

  • Set tables and prepare serving carts, serve food prepared by Dining Services. Clear, clean with soap, and sanitize all tables in the multipurpose room at the end of each meal.
  • Follow Child and Adult Care Food Program guidelines and regulations. Complete annual CACFP child nutrition toolbox training.
  • Follow instructions regarding children's special food needs and substitution requirements.
  • Prepare dirty dishes for transport to kitchen and deliver them. Complete 12 annual training hours.
  • Put clean dishes and serving utensils away.
  • Load and operate center dishwasher.
  • Properly store leftover food, if needed.
  • Do center laundry.
  • Wash and sanitize toys and other Center equipment as requested.
  • Keep Center multipurpose room, kitchen area and appliances, and other common spaces clean and tidy.
  • Inform administration and dining services as supplies and staple food items become depleted. Work with administration to order/shop for necessary food items.
  • Provide a good model for children in behavior and language; interact appropriately and politely with center staff and families.
  • Follow Center policies for health and safety, discipline, and learning, checking with other Children's Learning Center staff on protocol; refer situations involving accidents, illness, or difficult behaviors to other fulltime staff or administration.

ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Assist occasionally with care of children, always under the supervision of Center teaching staff.
  • Purchase and prepare food for snack as needed.
