Overview

The Summer Camps and Conference Assistant will work with Residence Life and the Office of Facilities and Events during the summer months. This person will assist with the general operations of Residence Life and Penn College Summer Camps as well as provide guest services support for New Student Orientation and other summer events. The incumbent must be willing to work a flexible schedule that will include evening and weekend hours to meet the needs of the program and program participants. The Assistant will be required to live in College housing throughout the summer while the program is in session. The Assistant will be required to temporarily move to and reside in various housing complexes to be present in the particular complex in which groups are residing. This position will receive housing and dining dollars during the employment period.

 

Schedule: Summer Conference Assistants generally work Monday through Thursday from 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM and Fridays from 7:30 AM to 1:00 PM, in alignment with the College's summer hours. There may be weeks when night and weekend shifts are required, with schedules provided in advance based on the camps and conferences happening on campus.

Qualifications

EDUCATION

  • High School Diploma or GED High School graduate. Required
  • Currently enrolled in a college. Preferred
  • Must be in good academic standing. Required

EXPERIENCE

  • Experience working in student leadership/student activities/residence life. Preferred

Responsibilities

  • Assist Residence Life staff with Residence Life summer Operations.
  • Assist Facilities Events Staff with Summer Camp operations including free-time program activities Perform duties related to guest room preparation.
  • This includes stocking rooms with guest linens, pulling linens from guest rooms, and washing, folding, and organization of guest linens.
  • Provide coverage in the Residence Life offices at scheduled times each Week.
  • Check summer camps and conference guests in and out of on-campus housing.
  • Provide on-call coverage during summer camps and conferences.
  • Establish clear lines of communication with maintenance personnel and the Residence Life professional staff.
  • Work with summer camps, conference and new student orientation guests to assist in their general day-to-day needs while staying on campus.
  • Provide direct supervision for and responsibility for the welfare of groups of minors staying on campus during summer programs.
  • Complete administrative tasks as designated by the staff, i.e., preparing information bags, rosters, room condition reports, key distribution/collection, linen distribution/collection, phone calls, and the creation of informational postings, signs, bulletin boards, and door tags.
  • Live in on-campus housing facilities throughout the summer.
  • Serve as a proper role model for camp participants, incoming first year students and other students/peers.
  • Adhere to the Penn College Code of Conduct.
  • Must be knowledgeable of college emergency procedures and act accordingly informing supervisor of unusual activity.
  • Maintain proper and secure procedures in the use and handling of apartment and master keys.
  • Perform apartment inspections and maintenance requests as needed.
  • Attend meetings and training programs.
  • Conduct residence hall tours for guests of the College and prospective students and their parents; participate in recruitment activities as needed.
  • Physical Standards and Special Job Features

    • Must be physically able to move about the complex, which includes climbing stairs.
    • Some lifting not to exceed 50 lbs will be required.

    Pay Transparency

    Hourly rate: $10.00.
