Overview

This position is stationed at the Clean Energy Center's Williamsport, PA lab facility, this person will provide HVAC, energy efficiency, and building science expertise for the Center's training and technical assistance activities. This person will develop, teach, and evaluate the Center's residential and multifamily building sector workforce training programs and provide technical assistance to the PA Weatherization Assistance Program, energy utilities, and other clients.

Qualifications

EDUCATION

  • Associate's Degree in HVAC or Building Trades or equivalent combination of work experience and training. Required
  • Hold or be able to obtain, HVAC-related and/or energy efficiency credentials from relevant trade association certifications (NATE, RSES, BPI). Required

LICENSES AND CERTIFICATIONS

  • Valid and in State Valid Driver's License. Required

EXPERIENCE

  • Three (3) years of experience in residential and/or multifamily HVAC technology Required
  • Background and/or trade experience that includes the installation of retrofit materials and/or heating equipment with an interest in energy conservation Required
  • Knowledge of safety regulations and best practices Required
  • Teaching or field mentoring experience Preferred
  • Knowledge of Federal, State, and Local building codes Preferred


ABILITIES AND SKILLS

  • Proficient in the use of equipment related to improving energy efficiency in residential and/or multifamily buildings. Required
  • Ability to understand load calculations, equipment selection, and duct design using the ACCA Manual J, S, and D standards. Required
  • Ability to provide quality instruction to a student population with diverse cultural backgrounds and learning capabilities. Required
  • Strong sense of professional responsibility and conduct, and ability to successfully interact as a team player. Required
  • Ability to evaluate processes and training content, anticipate operational difficulties, and recommend strategies for solutions and continuous improvement. Required
  • Effective organizational and project management skills. Required
  • Effective oral and written communication skills. Required
  • Possession of a valid driver's license. Required
  • Comfortable using computers, email, Microsoft Office applications, and information sharing in an electronic network environment. Required

 

Responsibilities

  • Assist in the planning, implementation, and instruction of the following functional areas:
    • Residential and multifamily structures training programs
    • Heat pump and building science consultation
    • Other initiatives as determined
  • Deliver training courses a minimum of 50 percent of the employee's time.
  • Work with funding agencies and energy utilities to provide assistance to, and oversight of, home energy professionals and HVAC contractors to ensure consistency and provide troubleshooting and field technical assistance.
  • Provide technical expertise for the development of additional training programs and workforce technical assistance.
  • Provide in-field mentoring visits and technical assistance to organizations and individuals performing HVAC and building retrofit measures.
  • Provide recommendations to improve fieldwork, training programs, and training materials.
  • Initiate the design, building, and maintenance of lab demonstrators and mock-ups as needed.
  • Identify and maintain materials, tools, supplies, and equipment utilized in training.
  • Provide technical assistance to clients and students.

 

ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES

 

  • Assist in collecting data for reports for clients as needed.
  • Maintain memberships and involvement with professional organizations and keep current with technical standards and industry trends.

Physical Standards and Special Job Features

-Occasional light-duty physical work required for classroom and lab demonstrations.

-Some lifting of supplies not to exceed 50 lbs.

Pay Transparency

Based on minimum education and experience qualifications the yearly salary range is $57,000 - $67,000.
