Overview

Are you passionate about working with metal materials and skilled with machinery? Penn College is looking for a dedicated Metal Handling and Preparation Attendant to join our team!  In this role, you'll move and prepare metal materials for student use in classes or for storage, cut bulk materials such as plates, pipes, and rods to specific dimensions, operate forklifts, and maintain inventory. Ideal candidates will have experience with hydraulic shears, band saws, and forklifts, and can work independently. Apply now to support our hands-on learning environment!

 

Schedule: Monday through Friday, 7 am to 3:30 pm, with some flexibility.

Qualifications

Education:

-High School Diploma or GED. (Minimum)

-Diploma from a technical high school or trade school. (Desired)

-Associate’s Degree or comparable training in a metalworking discipline. (Desired)

Experience:

-Education, training, and/or work experience which qualifies person to perform above duties and provides a working knowledge of terminology, tools, and equipment appropriate to trade. (Desired)

-Experience in inventory procedures. (Desired)

Abilities and Skills:

-Ability to read and to perform basic arithmetic. (Minimum)

-Must have training and/or certification in forklift operation or become trained or certified prior to performing forklift responsibilities. (Minimum)

-Must possess a valid driver’s license. (Minimum)

Responsibilities

-Store, dispense, receive, and check stock, tools, equipment, and instructional

supplies used by faculty and students. (Essential)

-Verify that written requisitions from students and staff correctly match item being checked in or out. (Essential)

-Cut stock to appropriate dimensions and quantity as requested, and dispense 

accordingly. (Essential)

-Maintain clean and orderly arrangement of stockroom and contents. Rearrange stockroom to make room for new supplies as needed. (Essential)

-Maintain inventory of expendable supplies and notify School office as supplies are depleted to enable timely reordering. (Essential)

-Receive and check supplies delivered by College shipping/receiving and supplies. (Essential)

-Perform minor maintenance and repairs (e.g., parts replacement) on tools/equipment/machines. (Marginal)

-Promptly report loss, theft, or breakage of tools, equipment, and supplies to Assistant Dean or proper instructor. (Essential)

-Answer telephone and relay messages, as needed. (Marginal)

-Assist faculty with purchasing instructional materials. (Marginal)

Physical Standards and Special Job Features

Physical Standards:

-May require heavy lifting not to exceed 75 lbs. 

Special Job Features:

-Position follows a 172-day annual work calendar.

-May on occasion be asked to substitute in the Machine Shop and Welding Toolrooms.

-This position is subject to a background check.

Pay Transparency

$17.25 per hour
